Support Your Library
Don’t let our name fool you. The Middlesex County Public Library is not a county agency. While the County of Middlesex is as generous as it can be in providing us with as much funding as it is able, we are a non-profit institution that relies fundamentally on participation and the generosity of our patrons. There are a variety of ways to help the Library. Some of the most beneficial types of gifts are listed here as a guide. For details about any of the following please call the Library at 804-758-5717. Gifts for the Present
This one is easy. You can make a gift now by contributing cash or check to the Annual Fund Drive. Donations are accepted at any time during the year and are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Most monetary donations are for immediate use and may be directed to a specific program or need. For information on how to contribute to the Annual Fund Drive call us at 804-758-5717. Have books that you would like to donate? Due to space constraints, we ask that you limit your donations to two boxes of books. You can drop off material any time the Library is open. The Library can provide a tax-deductible receipt for your donation. We may add your donation to the collection, offer them for sale, transfer to other institutions, or recycle them. All donated materials will be reviewed by staff for possible placement in the collection based on the guidelines established in the Library Collection Development Policy. The library reserves the right to accept, decline, or discard offered material.
For health reasons, we cannot accept books that you wouldn’t allow in your own living room. That means moldy or damaged books. We cannot accept old magazines, not even old National Geographic Magazines; nor do we have a use for encyclopedias or school textbooks.
We are most appreciative of the many donations of material we receive each year.
Gifts for the Future
Designating the Middlesex Public Library as a beneficiary in your will ensures library service for future generations. Bequests and other forms of planned gifts have an enduring impact on Library programs and services and provide for long-term growth.
Please consider us when making your estate plans. There are many forms of planned gifts that are excellent vehicles for significant giving and can offer major estate tax benefits to donors.
Life insurance policies designating the Library as beneficiary may be a current or deferred gift. Gifts of securities offer special tax benefits.
